Velocity Generator

Make better decisions about what deserves your time, money and attention.

You've been in business long enough to know there is always something else you could be doing.

  • Another marketing strategy to try.
  • A system to fix.
  • Someone to hire.
  • An offer to improve.
  • A course to finish.
  • An opportunity to pursue.

You probably don't need more ideas about what you could do.

The harder question is: What actually matters right now?

Velocity Generator helps established women business owners step back from the day-to-day, make better decisions, and consistently move the right things forward.

When you're this close to your business, everything can look important.

You know your business better than anyone. That's an advantage. It can also make it incredibly difficult to see what's actually happening.

  • A slow sales month feels like a marketing problem.
  • A packed schedule feels like a capacity problem.
  • An unfinished priority feels like a discipline problem.
  • A disappointing launch feels like an offer problem.

Maybe it is. Or maybe the obvious explanation isn't the right one.

And every solution costs you something. Money, yes. But also time. Attention. Capacity. Opportunity.

So before you hire someone, increase the ad budget, rebuild the website, add another offer, buy another course, or decide you just need to work harder… it helps to have a reliable way to step back and ask:

What is actually happening here? What does the evidence tell me? And what deserves my attention next?

That's the work we do inside Velocity Generator.

Better business decisions start with seeing the whole picture.

One Velocity Generator member owns a yarn shop.

Her business was spending about $4,500 per month on Meta ads—$4,000 in ad spend plus $500 for management.

Those ads were being credited with about $18,000 in sales.

$4,500 in. $18,000 out.

Sounds pretty good, right? Maybe the obvious next move is to keep going—or spend even more.

But when we looked at the whole equation, the story changed.

This was retail. Roughly half the revenue immediately went toward the cost of the products sold. Some products were discounted. The business offered free shipping. There was labor involved in fulfilling the orders. And then there was the $4,500 already spent to generate those sales.

The ads weren't producing anything close to the result the top-line revenue suggested.

So she made a decision that sounds backward if revenue is the primary measure of success:

She cut the ads. Sales went down. Profit went up.

She didn't need someone to hold her accountable for doing more marketing. She needed enough distance from the day-to-day to see what was actually happening—and enough outside perspective to question the obvious answer.

That's Velocity Generator.

See reality. Interpret the evidence. Make the decision. Learn from the result. Repeat.

Velocity Generator isn't built around someone handing you a formula for running your business. It gives you a process for making better decisions about your business. We work through the same cycle again and again:

See reality.

Separate what actually happened from what it feels like happened.

Interpret the evidence.

Look for patterns, question assumptions and make sure you're measuring the right things.

Make the decision.

Choose what fits your economics, customers, capacity, goals—and the business you actually want to own.

Learn from the result.

See what happens next and use that as evidence for your next decision.

Then we repeat. Because your business changes. Your customers change. Your capacity changes. And a decision doesn't have to have been wrong for a different decision to become right.

It starts with four questions each week.

Every week inside Velocity Generator, you complete your Weekly Review & Action Plan (WRAP). You answer four questions:

  1. What did you accomplish this week to move toward your goals?
  2. What are the 1–3 most important tasks you'll complete next week to move toward your goals?
  3. What did you observe or learn that is important to note going forward?
  4. Is there anything you need help with, that we should know, or you want to share?

Four simple questions. Four different jobs:

Progress → Priority → Learning → Perspective

You look at what actually moved forward. You decide what matters next. You notice what the week taught you. And you identify where another perspective might help you see something you can't see on your own.

Then we review your WRAP and respond with questions, observations and outside perspective.

No task policing. No shame because something didn't get done.

Sometimes the most useful question is: What kept getting in the way? Because if the same “important” thing keeps getting pushed week after week, that's information.

The accumulated record is the asset.

One WRAP can give you a useful few minutes of reflection. Do it consistently and something much more valuable happens.

You create a record of your business while you're actually living through it.

  • What you prioritized.
  • What got done.
  • What didn't.
  • What changed.
  • What you noticed.
  • What kept coming up.
  • What seemed important at the time.

Instead of getting to the end of a quarter and trying to reconstruct three months from memory, we have evidence. And that changes quarterly planning.

WRAP gives the quarter a memory. The Quarterly Tune-Up gives that memory perspective.

Every quarter, we zoom out. We look across the accumulated WRAPs alongside your goals, financials and what actually happened in the business. Then we ask better questions.

  • What patterns are showing up?
  • Does the story you're telling yourself match the evidence?
  • Are you measuring the right thing?
  • Is the problem you've identified actually the problem?
  • Does anything need to change?
  • And what deserves your attention next?

One business owner came into a Quarterly Tune-Up feeling discouraged.

She had worked hard and made difficult changes. Her top-line revenue was the lowest it had been in years.

It would have been very easy to conclude: This isn't working.

Then we looked at the financials.

Revenue was down. Net profit had doubled.

Same business. Same period. Completely different story.

If she had reacted only to the revenue number, she could have changed something that was actually working. That's why we look at the evidence before deciding what happens next.

What Velocity Generator looks like in practice

When you join: 5-3-1 Goal-Setting + Onboarding

We start with the bigger picture. What do you want your business and life to look like five years, three years and one year from now? Then we connect that direction to what deserves attention now.

Every week: WRAP

Complete your Weekly Review & Action Plan. We review it and respond with questions, observations and outside perspective.

Twice a month: Feedback Sessions

Bring something you're working through when another set of eyes—or ears—would help. These sessions are optional.

Every quarter: Quarterly Tune-Up

Step back from the accumulated evidence, your financials and what actually happened. Then decide what deserves your time, money and attention in the quarter ahead.

Two groups, so the context makes sense.

The core Velocity Generator process is the same for everyone. What changes is the business context.

Heidi brings firsthand experience running an independent retail shop, retreat center and deep connections in the craft industry. The conversations and outside perspective reflect realities like inventory, margins, merchandising and the operational demands of selling physical products.

Same process. Customized for different business contexts.

The calls aren't the product.

And the Quarterly Tune-Up isn't valuable because you get several hours on Zoom.

The process is the product.

Every week, you capture evidence while it's fresh. Over time, patterns emerge. Every quarter, you zoom out and look at the whole picture. Then you make decisions about what deserves attention next and return to the weekly process.

Repeat See reality. Interpret the evidence. Make the decision. Learn from the result.

“Before I started working with you, I wanted someone to tell me what to do, what the next steps were, how to run my business, etc. The WRAP and QTU helps me to figure out for myself what I need to do and how I want to run my business for myself.

I thought I couldn't do things (bookkeeping for example) that now I know I can. The WRAP keeps me on track. It is like a lifeline that I look at and adjust continuously throughout the week.”

— Velocity Generator client after six months

Velocity Generator is probably a good fit if…

You have a real business with real evidence to work with.

You have an offer people buy and enough experience with customers, sales, fulfillment and the market that there's something meaningful for us to examine.

You're willing to question your assumptions.

You don't have to agree with every piece of feedback. But you do need to be willing to ask: What if the thing I think is the problem isn't actually the problem?

You'll participate consistently.

WRAP is intentionally simple. The value comes from doing it week after week so we can build the record that eventually reveals patterns.

Velocity Generator probably isn't a good fit if…

You're still trying to determine whether anyone wants what you sell.

Velocity Generator works with evidence generated by an operating business. If you don't have that evidence yet, you're probably too early.

You want someone to tell you exactly what to do.

We'll give you perspective. We'll ask questions. We'll challenge your thinking. But the goal isn't to make you dependent on us to make your decisions. It's to make you better at making decisions about your business.

You know you won't consistently participate in the weekly process.

The WRAP is a simple document. That simplicity is intentional. The Google Doc isn't valuable because it's fancy. The accumulated record is the asset.

The investment is $397 per month.

Your membership includes:

  • 5-3-1 Goal-Setting + Onboarding when you join
  • Weekly WRAP with written review and outside perspective
  • Two optional Feedback Sessions each month
  • Quarterly Tune-Ups
  • A group matched to your business model, with separate groups for service-based and product/retail businesses

But if you're comparing programs based on who gives you the most calls, curriculum or stuff for $397, Velocity Generator probably won't win that comparison.

That's intentional. The goal isn't to give you more things to consume. It's to help you determine what actually deserves your time, money and attention—and consistently move the right things forward.

Smart leaders don't need more answers. They need better questions.

If you have an established business, plenty of evidence and a nagging sense that being this close to it makes it harder to see what actually matters, let's talk.

We'll look at what's happening in your business, what you're trying to figure out or change, and what makes you think that's the problem. Then we'll decide whether Velocity Generator is a good fit.

If it is, I'll show you how to join. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too.
